Nothing could be finer…
I have lived near golf courses in Atlanta, GA and Morristown, NJ. Living near a course has the advantage of being able to get to the course in a short time and not having to worry about an errant golf ball in your yard. I have lived in golf course communities at Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra, FL, and at Rivertowne Country Club in Mt. Pleasant, SC. When I compare living near with living in, living in is better.
I lived between the 7th and 8th holes on the South Nine at Sawgrass Country Club. Sawgrass Country Club has three nine hole courses and was the setting for the Players Championship before the TPC Stadium Course was built. It is the place I began playing golf and eventually shot my best round of golf. Sawgrass was a wonderful place to live and play.
I recently lived in Rivertowne Country Club near the tee box on the 9th hole. The 9th hole is a spectacular par 5 that has marsh views with the scenic back drop of Horlbeck Creek and the Wando River. There is not a bad view from any home on this hole from tee to green. The scene changes throughout the day as the sun moves to a breath taking sunset beyond the Wando.
Whether your home is at the tee box, on the fairway, or on the green, living on the course is a wonderful experience. The Charleston area has great homes, townhomes, condos and home sites on a number of courses from resorts like Wild Dunes and Kiawah, country clubs like Charleston National, Rivertowne and Dunes West, to golf communities, like Shadowmoss, Crowfield and Coosaw Creek. And it is true; Nothing could be finer in South Carolina than living in one of our wonderful golf communities.
